Merry Christmas and all that happy stuff to all my friends ,both christian ,non-christian .and atheists. I am a firm believer in that what you do is what you will get back .Do good ,for the sake of just plain doing good and you will get that back ten times over. Do good and expect a pat on the back for it and the hell with you..Getting a pat on the back is always a good thing ,for doing the right thing .Expecting a pat on the back...well as I say ,the hell with you.
I get the biggest kick out of "celebrities" who go visit sick kids in the hospital with a cameraman in tow. Or the politicians who visit the wounded ,with same cameraman. They make me sick. The real heroes are the ones who do it with out the cameramen.
I also don't believe donating your time or money should be a seasonal thing. I am pretty sure there are still plenty of needy people in July. That pesky homelessness or hunger thing is pretty much year round.
We pride ourselves on being the greatest country in the world. In a lot of respects we are. I may piss and moan ...and I do... but at the moment ,I wouldn't want to live anyplace else. That could change if Palin becomes president,but I digress.
The point I am trying to make is that yes it is the Christmas season,but so what? If you buy into the whole Jesus thing,then you also have to buy into the whole 365 thing. Too. many people don't ...They love the baby Jesus, from the day after Thanksgiving until December 26...then put it away til next year...just like the ornaments.
As people, we really should do a better job on the humanity front. I am no angel. I have on more than one occasion said Screw it. But I have also realized it and tried to do better.
So what I am taking the long way around the path to say is, maybe a little less Christmas and a little more humanity. I do believe at one time they may have been the same thing .

Back on the Big Box Rant!
Next time you stand in line at your local Big Box store,look around at the long lines and the empty cash registers.You will no doubt be wondering ,why they are in fact not being used.The reason is store budget. It is cheaper to have poor customer service,than employ more people. They know you will be back. They could care less about you . Not your money. That they love. But to make you wait in purgatory to check out ? Not an issue. To make you wonder around the store looking for a product? not an issue. To bring you in ,saying the have an item on sale and have it be out of stock? Not an issue. They only got 10 of them to begin with,but sent out 2000 fliers.. Who cares! You are in the store aren't you?
Look at the faces that are employed there. How many happy ones will you see. How many are working two jobs,just to survive. How many are on food stamps ,just so they can feed they're families? And how many do not have insurance,because they either don't get enough hours,or it is too expensive ,on the pay they make.
Take a look around and see how many older people are employed. Think about the jobs they lost, because it was cheaper for their company's to send the contracts to China,Mexico,India,etc. How many "Main St." business's are shut down,and now these workers are here.
This is the sad fact of what this country has become. Low paying ,I don't give a damn attitude. The workers hate their jobs. And the employers hate the workers . They employer mind set is that workers are out to screw them somehow. And the workers know the the employer's are screwing them . No one is happy. The days of long term employment is over. The days of worker loyalty is over. The days of low paying ..if you don't like it, then hit the bricks ....is now!
The answer is ,at least for me ,is to not shop in a Big Box.I know that somehow they will still survive with out my couple hundred a month. But what about yours....and yours...and yours??? Education is the key. If more people knew that they aren't saving a nickel,but in actuality costing the country untold billions of dollars every year. things might change.
I am doing my part. I hope you can do yours.

I am pissed off!!!
I don't care one bit about how Christmas is referred to.Happy Holidays...Merry Christmas... or whatever!I could care less if there is a manger in the local city park. I also could care less if a Mosque is built at ground zero. If some media whore wants to burn the Koran. I could care less if some over weight TSA agent wants to feel me up.I could care less if some piece of trailer trash wins some idiotic dance contest.
What I do care about is the fact that this country is going to hell in a hand basket. For the 1st time ever, unemployment is about to be stopped for millions of people!MILLIONS!This is an outrage!These are real people with real issues. I am sure you will know some of them. How on earth can this happen? How on earth can this even be a question? We don't have the money? ...BULLSHIT!!!

Random political thoughts
Wiki leaks have exposed the embarrassment of our country. It has also exposed the fact that Obama and his hope and change is just an illusion. It appears that Clinton has been doing business the exact same way as Rice was.Some hope and change.Another reason, I have the feeling I have been suckered.
The republicans aren't even in "power" yet and already they have stoped the Homeless Vet.Bill and the unemployment extension. They say they don't have the money to pay for it. They don't want to bankrupt our children's and grandchildren future. But they sure as heck don't mind messing with the Climate change that will screw them up way more than no money ever could!One guy actually had the audacity to say God will take care of it! I think the Koch's, among others, will actually NOT take care of it!I can only imagine how much money is being tossed around to keep the greenhouse effect from being an issue.
If you are looking for ways to "trim" the budget how about starting with defense? Base closings are a great way to start. I think the best way,though is to check the bills being submitted by private contractors. The $1000.00 hammers,for starters!If we actually had someone working for us in congress,scrutinizing every single bill that was turned into the pentagon,then we would be saving billions,right there.And the homeless vets and unemployed would be taken care of. Among other worthwhile causes.
I will be voting for Obama again in 2012,but I won't be a happy camper about it . I am convinced that he is not the man I voted for.I also think that it is too late in the process to get a viable opponent up and running with a war chest large enough to defeat him. I would not want the Democratic party split . As much as I have been disappointed with Obama, I still want him over ANY Republican there is .ANY Republican!My fear is if we split the party,then some knucklehead like Sarah Palin or Newt Gingrich ,might slip in. I would rather have Obama ,with all his MANY, faults ,than either of those two know-nothings.Can you imagine Sarah as president?Get the passports ready. Canada would be looking mighty good!
I love when I cruise thru the FB pages of the right wing and see all the hatred that is thrown toward Obama.They can dress it up any way they want but it is pure racism. If they took the extra second and googled some of the stuff they rant and rave about ,they would see he isn't anything near the big ,bad,bogey man they make him out to be. With all his talk,we still have the Patriot Act. Drone missiles.Iraq is still being fought. .Afghanistan is huge, The wiki leaks have shown us that most of the war mongering Bush policies haven't changed. Gitmo is still open for business.Off shore oill drilling is still allowed...and the beat goes on.And that was pretty funny last year, when he joked about the drone missiles taking out the Jonas Bros. About as funny as Bush looking for the WMD's, at same function a few years ago.
So I guess if you have read this, you can see I am not a happy camper. The way this country is headed ,I don't think I will be for a while. But,I have lived thru Kennedy being killed,Nixon, St. Ronnie,Bush 1 Bush 2,Cheney, and I will get thru this. After all it is just politics.......As usual.

The Concept of Big Box Stores
Let the games begin!Only 28 days til Christmas! Get your shopping done!The flyer's have been put in the papers.The bargains are there for you. All that's left is for you to do your part in making some corporation richer.The Walmart's ,Best Buy's ,Target's,etc.are waiting for you to enter.Spend,spend,spend.If you don't ,you will be hurting the economy! Plus,your kids will have a lousy Christmas, if you don't get the newest item! And millions and millions buy into that BS.
These places are not your friend!They are not your community's friend.hey are not America's friend .They roll into town with cheap items.They get tax breaks .They hire hundreds of employees,but with the exception of a few pay them minimum wage.They also make sure their hours are under 32,so they don't have to be called full time. They open up local bank accounts,which they promptly close .This means their money is heading right back to Home Office. They cherry pick their charities.Meaning, they don't ,in actuality, help the town at all.
They lure you in with cheap prices,but how many times have you just bought what you went in for .You roll in planing on spending say $25-50 and roll out having spent well over $100. Some savings. Meanwhile,the folks down on main street are soon out of business,because they were charging an extra $5 on same items. You know those people .They are your neighbors.They go to the same church ,or are members of the same clubs .You went to school with them. You may have even worked for them when you were in school,or just starting out .They are also the ones who year after year have kept their money in town,so it could be reinvested into local projects. They are the one's, who if you were a couple bucks short, would let you slide til payday. They are the ones, who might give you a temporary job, until you got back on your feet ......or might even drop off the product on their way home.
As someone who once worked at Walmart,for two and a half years,I can tell you, for a fact ,they are not your friend!.I have also known people who have worked for other Box store and it is the same game plan..Screw the worker,screw the consumer ,and make as much money as they possibly can. Nothing wrong with making money. Plenty wrong with how you do it.
I haven't even touched on how the BBS spend their profits,on candidates and projects,that want to ruin this country, even more . That's a whole other kettle of fish!
This Christmas season ,I will be doing ,as I have for the last 40 years, shopping downtown,spending a couple extra dollars on stuff , and knowing I am, in reality, helping the economy,far more that I ever would shopping at the Big Box Store.

The Bush Tour 2010
Right out of the box,I want to know why this guy isn't in jail?Bush,Cheney,Rumsfeld,etc.Why aren't they in jail? I am greatly disappointed in Obama,Holder,Pelosi,and whoever else felt they needed to be absolved of the war crimes, committed by those guys. Torture and false imprisonment are just two of the jailable offenses.Outing an active CIA agent,because you don't like her husband, is pretty disgusting,also. Now Bush is going to be making millions,probably,off of his book . I know there are also millions of people who feel the same way as I do.I hope there are ,at least.
This man lied about a war the we are still in nine years later.The cost has been in excess of 4000 dead and over 30,000 wounded!The fiasco in Katrina was not all of his fault. The New Orleans' government were just as unprepared. It is the aftermath,though.As president of the USA,that should NEVER have happened !He should have immediately had what ever supplies were needed brought in.He waited 2days at least before doing anything.
This man is a disgrace,and our country will be paying for years ,based on his incompetence.His vice-president has made millions off the war and Bush is going to make millions off his version of history. Again ,a disgrace.
To go back to my original question.Why is this man NOT in jail!
The financial ruin of the country is a direct result of his lack of oversight on Wall St. and the banking industries. It all looked rosy, when he was in charge .People buying houses , walking around, with pockets full of money.It was nothing more than a house of cards which have come tumbling down.! And we are holding the bag!
I wish that instead of Matt Lauer or Oprah Winfrey, it was Bill Moyers ,Keith Olbermann ,Tom Brokaw,Rachel Maddow ,someone of that stature ,interviewing him.But that's a pipe dream.It will never happen ,because then he might have to answer some real questions .,and follow ups to those questions!
So carry on war criminal . Make your millions with your revision of history,but I won't be either reading it or watching you push it .You will never ever screw me again!

Tuesday..Nov.2 and Keith O.
Well ,Tuesday sure sucked!I honestly wasn't prepared for the way 3/4 of the Tealiban got in. I expected a few..I never expected the amount that did. It has left me a little shell shocked. I am so disappointed that so many of my country men would get sucked in like that.I am determined to never let this happen again.Whatever it takes ....whatever...I never want to see this travesty of the politcal landscape change for the worse,like it has.
I am prepared to help organize ,volunteer,join people united in the same cause.If Obama gives in to their whims,then he needs to go.This country might very well pay for this voter apathy for decades,or we can unite and make it a fleeting blip on the radar. It is up to us .Talk is cheap.It really is time to put up or shut up.And I am talking about me and like minded people.It is already starting ,the pushing "their agenda.
Keith Olberman got tossed off the air Friday. I think it is a direct result of the huge move to the right ,the country took. They can deny it anyway they want,but it is pretty strange they get in on Tuesday and he is gone by Friday.
I know they are saying he broke some kind of company policy,but I think that it a lot of smoke and mirrors. He is the loudest voice of the left out there. The list is a small one who speak up the way he does
I have known about Keith ,since his days in Boston,as a local sportscaster. As with most of his jobs he wasn't here that long.He did leave an impression on me though.I liked his style. I have bumped into him around the dial here and there through out the years.He at some point fell of the radar. Imagine my surprise channel surfing one night and there he was. As a newsman,no less. I was instantly hooked.That was around six years ago.
A kind of strange thing happened Monday night with me .I was watching his show and he dropped the Worst Persons in a large part to what Jon Stewart had said the previous Saturday . Stewart had commented on the fact that Fox and MSNBC ,in particular seemed to be a main reason for the hate being ratcheted up in the country.I tended to agree ,to a point,clearly, myself falling on the MSNBC side. I will save it for another day my thoughts on Fox. Keith then did something that surprised me .He proceeded to rip Stewart for ten ,minutes defending both himself and MSNBC.He was right on a few points ,but overall ,to me, it almost came off like sour grapes. I was extremely disappointed with his attitude.
Tuesday arrived and as I have said ,it wasn't any fun. I made a decision to cut back on my TV politics viewing and rely more on what I pick up on the web.Newspapers and blogs that I trust.I thought that I would watch maybe a little more CNN and maybe a little less MSNBC. Nothing cast in stone,but that was my short term thoughts. Then Friday afternoon arrived. Keith Olberman had been stripped of his show for what amounts to a minor infraction.
I am now outraged.I honestly think this is the start of something very ,very, wrong.You can justify his suspension, til the cows come home,but I truly think, this is exactly what I was afraid of, in the first place. Keep the voices quite,unless you agree with us. There was a country, back in 1930, that did this exact same thing,and we all know how that turned out.
I am not going to be quite about this. It has started and now we must also. Who will be next?What minor infraction will Rachel Maddow do? What line will Micheal Moore cross,that will be deemed illegal? What will any Left thinking person do, that will cause the Right to silence them?
This isn't 1930,this is 2010!Let's act like it!

Tuesday....Maybe not D-Day for the country
Well, come Wed. morning ,the dust will have settled and we will know which direction the country will be heading in But, that is out of my hands.I hope it is heading in the right direction,meaning left direction. Hopefully the majority will see through the hate, from the Nazi Tealiban fools, and make the right decision.I know I did my part.
This brings me to what I think, will happen.I think a fair amount of the Tealiban will get in,not all ,but a few.I also think that with in a short period of time ,the American people will be saying WTF!!I think the public will see how unprepared these folks are to lead .The emperor has no clothes. I have been thinking that maybe it might not be such a bad idea, to have a few of these fools get in.It will show Americans,just how they badly they misjudged them, and how ill prepared they are to govern.It will only help the country in the long run.Short term ,maybe not so good .Long term ..it might be just what is needed.
When 2012 approaches it will have a strong bearing on which direction the country is really going.With these fools failing ,the Palin's,Gingrich's, De Mint's,etc will be knocked out of the equation. Then it will be time for us to put our foot on Obama's neck and have him try to do the stuff he said he was going to do the first time around. Gitmo,DADT,more Gay support,out of Afghanistan,environmental issues,etc. I think he has done a great job,all things considered,but there is plenty,plenty of room for improvement.
I also think it is time to look at some of the social programs that are out there .Third or Fourth generation welfare cases.Finding and keeping employment The lack of respect in the Black neighborhoods.The massive drug epidemic. The housing crisis. The hunger issues,etc,etc,etc. There is a lot of work to be done. We can sit on the sidelines and whine,or we can roll up our sleeves and actually pitch in.
So, I am not looking at Tuesday as all doom and gloom, as I have been. I am looking at it as a new beginning.Let them get in,fall on their faces, and we can move on ,in the right,or left,direction!
This brings me to what I think, will happen.I think a fair amount of the Tealiban will get in,not all ,but a few.I also think that with in a short period of time ,the American people will be saying WTF!!I think the public will see how unprepared these folks are to lead .The emperor has no clothes. Nazi Tealiban Baggers
The Tea Bag Party, from here on in, will never be called that by me again.As of yesterday, they are the Nazi Tealiban.They are America's greatest threat to freedom. If you don't agree with them ,they either give you a beat down ,at worst, or shout you down ,spewing their Bible passages. That makes them right,because God is on their side.Sounds just like another terrorist organization.Different God,same message.
The right wing battle cry is that all Muslims are terrorists.WRONG!! Some terrorists are Muslims.Some terrorists are Irish ,some terrorists are German,and some terrorists are Americans.It is the American ones I am most concerned about.
They wave their Bible and tell you it is God's choice. They assault you and tell you God is on their side.They kill and say God says it is OK.
We all know about Oklahoma.What is not as well known ,or forgotten, is the bombing and killings at abortion clinics.The poor lady killed at the Atlanta Olympics.The abortion doctor, killed in church,no less. The airplane that was flown into the IRS building.The policemen killed through out the country,by people demanding their rights. The people killed in Tennessee,by the man working on a hit list of liberals.
The beat down ,the other night,in Kentucky.The disruption at the town hall meetings.The cursing at the Black congressmen. It is perfectly alright to mess with someone else's rights.That never seems to be an issue with them. The bullying issues going on. Where is the outrage over these suicides and hatred, on the right?It doesn't exist.God hates fags! Fred Phelps,another American terrorist.
This is our country,today.What a mess.Politicians saying out and out lies ,to appeal to the basic voting base.Talk radio,amping up the hate, for ratings,Fox news,doing the same.No one taking one bit of responsibility!NO ONE!

The Year of the Nut-Job
What happened this year? How did so many "fringe" candidates get to be a force on the political landscape? Angle,Palidino,O'Donnell,Greene,Miller,Rubio,Whitman,and a host of others. This is scary times,indeed.The fact that these whacks could actually make a difference in our lives, says way too much, about the direction the country is heading. The fact that this is only a few of the people running,says even more.
I saw a "gentleman" on The Maddow show the other day who should be in the loony bin .Instead he is running for a Congressional seat in Oregon. With Palin,Bachman,DeMint leading the way ,our country is so headed in the wrong direction.They wish to push the religious button on us and make us walk in their shoes. I am happy in my own shoes.
The way these people are twisting facts to fit their agenda is also pretty scary.They incite violence,yet step back and disavow it, when it happens.They incite racism ,yet say,that's not what they meant.They have made being a Muslim a dirty word,because it doesn't fit their perception of God!
I have heard it being said that Obama is not the man we voted for. I have to agree with that to a certain extent. I would also have to say that not voting a straight Democratic ticket would let these fools win .If they win ,we lose!
Whatever misgivings one may have for Obama,please don't take your eye off the big picture.He seems to be doing the best he can ,under conditions no President has ever had to face.To vote for a 3rd party or to do a write in is just handing the ball over to "them".This is NOT the time to cut your nose off to spite your face.
I am not happy with all the Democratic office seekers. I feel the Dem's have let way to many opportunities slide by. But having said that,they are still miles and miles ahead of what the alternative is.
When you go to vote next month,think and think hard.Do you want someone who wants to extend your rights? Or do you want someone who wants to take them away?Do you want to be ruled in a free society? Or do you want to be ruled by moral hypocrites?For me the choice is obvious.As plain as the nose on my face.The one I won't cut off !

John Lennon
Today is the birthday of John Lennon.70 years old is what he would have been.Imagine.This man has influenced me more than any other public figure and he has been dead for almost twenty years.
I was ten years old when the Beatles were on Ed Sullivan.My music tastes at the time were none.I was into westerns and war movies. Red Sox baseball and Patriots football.Music, really, didn't mean a thing to me.But like the rest of the country ,I sat glued to the TV that night.Who were these guys that made the girls scream like that? What the heck was that type of music? And that hair?What was that all about?
The bus ride to school the next day,was filled with a bunch of kids talking, about what we had just seen. The hair!The way the girls screamed. The way our parents were putting them down.That right there was a big thing. If our parents didn't like them,then, they must be good.
The years went along.The Monkees and Herman's Hermits became the groups I was into.The Beatles were a little too far out for me.The hair became super long.The music was not so simple.And then I heard the White Album.My life changed again.The Monkees got kicked to the curb,and I started to grow my hair.I started to listen to Hendrix,The Doors,Cream,and The Rolling Stones. And I also adopted the lifestyle that went with listening to that stuff
Through out this whole period there was one voice.Even when I didn't think I was listening,there was one voice shouting louder than everyone else.John Lennon.He was saying crazy stuff.Peace.Love.Harmony.I wasn't listening,yet I was.Somehow, he entered my subconscious and indirectly my heart and soul.I became big in the peace movement,Big in the hippie life.Big in the whole subculture of that time.
The Beatles broke up,and life went on.Lennon put out an album for the ages.He showed me it was all right to be confused.He pointed out the class struggles of the working man.He told me not to believe in anything ,except myself.
I took and ran with these ideals.And I wasn't the only one.
The man shaped a whole generation.Anyone that is pushing 50 or older has Lennon to thank among other's.He was the voice.If you are speaking out against war.If you are speaking out against human rights violations.If you are questioning the government.The list goes on. The reason he influenced me was that for the most part he put his money where his mouth was.He was real.He marched. He questioned.He wrote and sang about it.And most of all, he tried to do something about it.

Wow!He left us way too early.We all know that.I am not even going to get into that sad part of mine and everyone else's period.The fact remains ,that John Lennon changed my life.And I am glad he did.I am ,who I am today,because I have tried to follow the blueprint he laid out. I haven't even come close to succeeding in so many things that he put forward,but what is really cool ,is that he didn't either.He was a human being.Full of greatness and full of faults.And I am so glad that for a brief period ,I was able to share this earth with him.

The Fix is in at Fox
Sarah,Huck,and anyone else you care to mention are either contributor's,or have their own shows at Fox News.Granted they haven't announced they are running for president ,in 2012,but they sure are sticking their toes in the water.It appears that Fair and Balanced Fox is giving them a free platform to do this.I don't watch Fox News ,so I really don't know what goes on there. I do see clips online and watch MSNBC and get the cliff notes .I am aware that it is as about as right wing as MSNBC is left.Having said that,I can't understand how it is legal for Fox to continue to have these folks on and not have an opposition voice. That is something MSNBC does have.Fox claims to be a neutral news organization ,but when they contribute a million dollars to the republican party ,that cancels the neutrality.When they are pushing the right wing and only the right wing that cancels the neutrality.This is a two party system here in the USA but if Fox was the only station you watched ,you would not think so . They push the Muslim hate. They push the birth certificate doubt. They push the Iran fear.They don't report news that even looks to be fair for the Democrats. And they yell about how their ratings are the best ,so they must be the best.
An analogy I often use now is that the Red Sox always sell out .Every game ,sell out. Meanwhile the Tampa Bay never sells out. They had to give away tickets the other night. But Tampa finished the season in first,while the Red Sox were in third .Just because the Red Sox had more fans,doesn't mean they are a better team.
I personally think Fox should be stripped of it's news accreditation's,until they join a level playing field.They are to Fair and Balanced ,what Dick Cheney is to not having conflict of interest.

The Democrats
What exactly am I missing here.Why, from the top man down, are the Dems,just rolling over and letting the Republicans walk all over them?The Tea Party has for some reason become a force to deal with.The Republicans are out and out lying about everything Obama has done.They are clearly standing in the way of progress,yet nothing is said .Grayson and Weiner seem to be the only voices of strength.Harry Reid is a joke in my opinion.If she wasn't such a loon I almost wish Angle would defeat him! Almost,lol.
When are these guys going to say enough is enough? Kerry sat back and took it,as did Dukakis years ago. That.worked out pretty good,huh?
The time has come to tell all the naysayers to shut up,or put up!Joe Biden is another one who stood up to them and was left flying in the breeze.Where is the unity?Why won't the Dems use the muscle they have ,stop kissing ,you know what,and get on with it.
Throw out Leiberman from any form of power,Next time they say filibuster,say lets go.DON'T CAVE.It makes it hard, with all that the Republicans have done through out the last 100 years, to accept what is going on now.It isn't like they are going to make the country better.Far,far from it!
Yet day after day the Dems let themselves get either backed into a corner or remain silent .This is not leadership.This is,well I don't know what it is,but it isn't what I was looking for.Pep rallies are good for high school football games.We need our President to come out swinging now,and the rest of the Dems to follow suit.Enough is enough.If these guys aren't dealt with it will mean at least 4 more years of nothing.It will mean laws will be overturned ,more rights stripped,ect,.
I think the answer is as plain as the face on your nose.Fight back,and fight back now!!!!!

The Tea Party Movement ...No Joke Now
I ,along with million's, thought these guys were funny people, with whacked out, mis-spelled signs and hilarious costumes! I mean,who could take anyone serious, with teabags hanging off their hat?Well,I certainly misjudged these lunatics and their whole "I want my country back war "cry.These guys are playing for keeps and now are a force to be reckoned with. Nevada,Alaska,Delaware,California,Florida...and other points in between . What should be a cake walk, isn't!Their leaders deal in sound bites and really have NO plans,but it is the sound bites people are listening to.
What started as a small band of fools has taken over the country. Funded by big bucks. Funded by millionaires who could give a rats' patooy about these people . None is so blind as those that will not see.And these people are blind.
If we sit on our collective bottoms ,these people will be running the country!They are already too close for comfort.Every free thinking American should be paying attention.Judges will be changing laws,to suit the new base.Washington will be passing new laws ...to suit the base.Our way of life as we know it will disappear!

The Nov. Elections
Well,the dust is being settled .The Tea Party is claiming huge victories,as well they should.Voter apathy has put them in a position they should never be in.This is something every free thinking person,needs to look at.We can not allow this to happen in November! I honestly feel, if these people are put in some kind of control ,it would truly be the end of this country as we know it!
The solution is right in front of us.VOTE!Please do not sit back and think these people will loon themselves out. It ain't gonna happen!We need to gather our resources,and pitch in anyway we can!Send money,volunteer,hold signs and most of all spread the word to your neighbor's and friends!

Scattered random thoughts
Football is back !
Baseball is still the best sport,though.
I love TCM for movies ,but I wish they wouldn't show the same ones so close together.
Reading a good book, is a little slice of heaven on earth.
This weekend I will remember,but also realize, it was a few that caused it ,and not a whole religion.
When is someone gonna sit down Sarah Plain and get her to actually say more than bumper sticker phrases? And when will Glen Beck go away?
I hope the President sticks to his guns on the new tax break idea.
I also would love to see more unity in both congress and the senate.
I wish all this foolishness going on ,Mosques ,Quran burnings,inane border talk,would just fade away ,so we can get to work on housing issues,unemployment,wars, ..the really important stuff!
Why is civil rights back in the news,again?
Why is the hatred of this country at an all time high?
Dogs are cool,cats are cats.
Why is the weather on five times,at least,during a 1/2 hour news show? It hasn't changed in those five minutes!
What is so hard about the concept of peace ,love, and happiness?
Why do people have to be so rude ,when they disagree with your point of view?

Why is the hatred of this country at an all time high?
Dogs are cool,cats are cats.
Why is the weather on five times,at least,during a 1/2 hour news show? It hasn't changed in those five minutes!
What is so hard about the concept of peace ,love, and happiness?
Why do people have to be so rude ,when they disagree with your point of view?
And again ,remember this weekend ,it wasn't a whole religion ,that caused the horror!

More thoughts on the Koran Burning
2010 Gainsville,Fl won't look much different than 1933 Berlin,Germany."pastor"Terry Jones is nothing more than a media whore going this to satisfy his ego and enrich his coffers . If he was truly a man of God,this wouldn't be happening.
As I journey through the FB, pages I see an overwhelming condemnation for him .I have been amazed at the different people that have condemned this.I have also been saddened by the small amount of people who support this . A minority,but a loud minority.I am hoping FB is indicative of the true spirit of America.The overwhelming support against this is ringing across the land !
I have posed the point that it is this "pastors" right to burn this as is my right to burn the flag.I wouldn't though ,because ,for me ,that would be morally wrong. This is also morally wrong,but that doesn't seem to matter to a person ,with no moral compass.
We are coming up on one of ,if not the ,worst day in this country's history,and I for one will not watch one second of this barbaric display put on in Fl.When it comes on the news I will switch channels .When the pundits that I watch comment on it ,I will switch channels .It isn't much .It won't change anything ,but it will be enough for me. My own protest,and my way of remembering 9/11 will not be spent helping out the media whore !

Burning the Koran
Well ,in honer of 9/11, a group of "Christians" are going to get together, in Gainsville, Fl. and burn the Koran . How nice of them . The proper way to promote brotherhood through out the world .
I ,for the life of me,can't understand this. These fine folks, are spitting on another's bible.I bet they make sure all the TV camera's are there. This is what this is ! This is some lunatic fringe "pastor" inciting intolerance.He is protected, by the laws, in this country to do it,but that sure as heck doesn't make it right!
It is being well documented that it is going to put our troops in harms way.It will also Americans in every part of the globe in harms way.
What will be next? ......Books that they don't like? ..To KillA Mockingbird? ..
Other religions they don't like? The Torah?What they deem ,that should be on TV or in the local movie house?

Labor Day Weekend
I have never worked in a union shop. I have never had the need to work in a union shop.That is until I went to work for Walmart. I am not going to sit here and bash Walmart.It was a horrible working experience and for the moment that is all I will say about it. What I will say, is that it taught me how lucky I had been, in my other work stops, along the way.And how grateful I am,the the union was born.
I am from a fishing town ,and I started working at a young age.There were a ton of fish plants and almost all of them were non-union.The biggest places in town were union.By these guys being union it kept the rest of the places honest.We all got fair wages and went by the union rules.As a rule most places treated the help with dignity and fairness.I now realize, if there was no union in town ,things would have been different .
When I first went to Walmart,that was when I realized ,just how important the union was and is. Unfair labor practices are their middle name ! And union busting is something they excel at.They even showed us a film during orientation that was against the union. I stayed with them for a miserable two and 1/2 years .
In 2006 I moved to NC . It was here, that I have really seen, how not having a union around, is hell for the workers .I have seen supervisors fire employees for not liking them ,or not working fast enough,with out any previous warnings. I have seen the color of a persons skin ,decide what job they get . Or the gender of a person .I have seen supervisors yell at the top of their lungs at the help ,with out one shred of dignity for the person . And most of all ,I have seen an unlivable wage .
I am grateful ,for having grown up with the union in my town ,although I didn't have that gratefulness ,then .With out the union around ,I have seen the ugliness.

What exactly has Obama done wrong?
Besides the obvious reason ,why do so many people want to see Obama fail?Is it as plain as the nose on my face?Sadly I think it is .
I am on Face Book all the time .In my travels around the different pages I go to many right wing sites . The hatred there to our President is horrible . If it was a few people ,no big deal . But it is way too many people, so big F**king deal ! The White House page is probably the worst ,that I have seen . I am sure there are worse ones out there, but I am not that brave .The biggest rallying cry is to impeach him . I always ask for what? I have yet to get an answer .
I have some issues with Obama .This isn't a love note to him . He still has Gitmo open ,I think the Health Care Bill could have been better . I think he was a little to slow on the draw with BP and most of all I think ,Bush ,Cheney ,and the rest of those criminals should be prosecuted . I also wouldn't mind him coming out and telling the republicans to shut the F**k up and help out. But having said , that I sure as heck am glad he is my President !
George Bush took an economy that was in the positive and put it in the negative ,so far in the negative ,that our grand kids ,grand kids will be paying on.
9/11 happened on his watch . When told about the worst enemy disaster in this country's history he kept on reading to the kids . He then brought us into war with Iraq ,who had NOTHING to do with 9/11 ! And he lied about it ! We began torturing prisoners . We opened up Gitmo and with out due process , arrested any one who looked Arabic. Haliburtin was given free reign in Iraq,and proceeded to bill the USA for billions of dollars .Phones were tapped ...any phone! And then there was Katrina ! ...Heck of a job Brownie !
So again I ask the question ....Just what has Obama done, that deserves impeachment ?
We are in a sad state of affairs and it will only get worse if we as free thinking Americans don't do what ever we can to put a stop to it . For me that means shouting from the treetops when ever I see this anti-Obama stuff going on .....and most of all it means come November ........VOTE !!!!

The Becking of America
Well ,the reality of these times are that someone like Glenn Beck can be any kind of spokesperson for the "average " American .Three years ago he was getting bounced off CNN due to low ratings . Unfortunately, he found a home at Fox news . No need to get into the whole Fox news thing . Chances are you already know, all there is to know, about them .
Depends on who is doing the talking ,but I believe that approximately 100,000 people showed up Saturday at his rally . That's alot of people, no matter how you spin it .It wasn't suppose to be about politics . It was suppose to be about God and country . I am not sure exactly who's God ,and who's country . Anyways ,that's beside the point right now . It was all about politics and anyone that thinks it wasn't just doesn't have a clue .
This "rally" was all about getting the troops ready for the November elections .With Beck leading the way . This man has gone from being a half-baked TV talk show host to the new face of the new "christian" right . That alone should send shivers down the spine of every free thinking American there is .
It would be easy to ignore this whole thing ,and him .We can't ,though .This is something that needs to be followed, as does he.Pointing out his hypocrisy at every turn .
This man is loving his new position and making the most of it . He has gone from nothing to something in no time flat .He is spreading lies and disinformation, just like the tent preachers before him. And the people are eating it up.
This is scary times in America and he is helping to stoke the flames . He is not the only one . All you have to to do is look around . Palin ,Gingrich,Nevada,Minnesota,California,Florida and several other spots around the country .
Scary times indeed ,if you truly love your country,the way is was originally set up . I would love to see Beck get his just due and in a year be working in Podunk Montana at a radio station with an audience of 20 . Now that would be a free America !

Religion and God
Probaly,the best way to get into a fight is to talk about religion . So let's go !
What is God ? Who is God ? Is there a God ? Three questions that have baffled mankind for thousands of years . Three questions that no one really knows the answers to . You may think you do . In your heart, you may think I am just being my wise-ass self . Who is to say that the God I choose to believe in, is better than the God you choose to believe in? Or the God you choose not to believe in . Who is to say if a non-believer is going to hell . That is just plain foolish ! Who is to say there is even a heaven or hell ? These are questions that have bugged me forever.
One of the reasons I have grabbed this subject is because of the way I see the country going . It seems if you don't follow a certain doctrine you are going to hell !This certainly isn' anything new in this country . They have been playing the religious card for years. What is new is the intense hatred that has sprung up . Is Obama a Muslim ? Well of course not !! But even if he was, why should that matter?????
Why should the fact ,that I may choose to pray to a different God than your's ,have any meaning what so ever ?The question should be is, how do I live my life? Period !It is and should be a personal decision on how you pray ,who you pray to,or if you even pray at all .
Why this is front page news is digusting .We are in two wars ,the economy is in the tank ,try to sell your house ,today ,Obesity,illitercy and hunger are and should be the front page stories . The smoke and mirrors thing is getting old . Taking the focus off the main problems of this country is a huge disservice to everyone .
I don't care one bit, who you pray to . I don't care one bit ,if you don't pray at all. I do care, as to what type of human being you are !
You can hit me over the head all day long with your bible .I will still try to do the next right thing ,and so should you.
As I have said ,both religion and God are personal issues. They should remain so . I will listen to your point of view ,and I might even take something away from it with me ,but I will not let you tell me that it is the only way . And the rest of the country has to think that ,too .
That is not FREEDOM ! That is not DEMOCRACY !That is not AMERICA !

Follow the Money
The circus has left Washington .How much damage they have created, is yet to be determined . Supposedly around 87,000 people showed up for it ,and I would guess a few more million watched it in CSPAN and live web feeds . This whole "I want my country back " thing has gotten pretty old . It is my country ,also ....and I kind of like it,warts and all . Of course there is a lot of stuff that can be done to make it better ,but not putting God ,or more to the point Big Business , in charge is the way.
Who is anyone to say that God is the answer . God is a personal thing .It is about as personal as a person gets . The God that I think of probably isn't the God that you think of . So does that make my God right ? For me it does. For me . Which means your God shouldn't be dictating to me . And what about the millions of people who don't believe in God ? Why should you be telling them that it is your God or the highway. This country was founded on the basic principle of all men ,and women , being equal. So let's leave God out of the political landscape !
Last week the New Yorker ran an excellent story on the Koch brothers . These are the true money men behind the Tea Party movement . Their whole agenda is not making the USA a better place to live .Their agenda is making as much money as they can . I have no problem making money . I am not against being wealthy. I am against the way you make your money ,though.
Calling the climate control issue bogus is just wrong ,when the reason you are saying that is so you don't have to abide by pollution laws . No laws = burn anything . They also want to deregulate safety measures in the work place . Again not because of Big Government sticking their noses in our business ,but to make more money !
They are not alone in this ,but they are the most powerful . Walmart makes it so you can't make a livable wage ,Target and Best Buy, contributing to political candidates ,who have their own Homophobic agendas ,among other issues .
The whole Big Box store reality is here . Main St. shopping is gone .The fabric of the town is going .Walk down any Main St. anyplace and what do you see ? ...You don't see the corner grocery store ,the local Dept . store , the mom and pop hardware store. What you see are antique stores ,vintage clothing stores and plenty of restaurants . I think those places are great and am not putting them down. But Who do you deal with for your basic supplies ? It isn't the guy that lives on the next block . And his putting the money he makes from your purchases back into the local economy...If you have a problem with an item you purchased try telling that to Mr. Walmart .If you are a couple dollars short try asking Mr. Walmart to let you skate til next payday.
The Tea Party started because ,the sad truth is, they lost !And a Black man was elected president A bunch of folks started whining and the Koch brothers saw this huge opportunity to "get involved" . They began funding rally's .renting buses to go to town meetings with the sole purpose of disruption. And they don't give a damn about these people . They are sending them money ,thru FreedomWorks and other sources ,simply for the express purpose of lining their pockets !
Keep big government out of our lives ! ..That is the mantra ! ....And that is also the downfall of the USA !

This Historic Day !
August 28 ,1963 has entered into history as one of the defining moments in this country's short history. Dr . King gave a speech that will be remembered until time stops .
I was a ten year old kid . I probably spent the day playing baseball ,or building a fort ,or maybe playing army . I was oblivious as to what was happening in Washington ,that day . I was at least until I got home and my Dad was sitting in front of the TV watching Walter Cronkite and not saying a word . Some guy was on saying something about rights ,freedom ,and some kind of dream . It was at that moment my life changed ,although I didn't realize it at the time .
I never knew that this stuff wasn't there for everyone . What do you mean there are separate fountains ? What's this back of the bus thing? I just didn't understand ,but soon started to.
Because ,Dr King affected this ten year old, little white kid ,from Gloucester . I started looking at the way I spoke about others and how others spoke about others . I stopped hanging out with the "cool" kids who thought it was OK to use the N word ,who thought it was OK to push the new kid around ,who thought it was OK to make fun of someone different .
It wasn't a Black and White issue . It was a Human Rights issue . I had no idea when Dr. King spoke on that historic day, how it would change my life ,but it did .

The Double Standard
Tomorrow ,Glenn Beck will have his thing in Washington. The "I Have a Scheme" thing .As much as I deplore Beck, and all the he stands for , it is his right to have this "march" of his . It doesn't matter that it is a slap in the face to MLK and every Black person in the USA.This actually is one of the reasons that Rev.King marched ....so everyone would have the same rights . My problem with this, brings me to The "Mosque ". The number one hot topic in America today . Just as it is Beck's right to have his rally ,it is the "mosque's" right to build where and what they want .It seems that for the most part ...not all ....it is about sensitivity. The feelings that the 9/11 victims survivors may have are irrelevant ,so is the battle cry hoisted upon the nation. There may be some thing in that,but not for me to judge . What matters is that above all they have the RIGHT to build there.
This is where the double standard comes in ..Why is it OK for Beck to have his rally ......on hallowed ground and to heck with the feelings of Black America, but it is NOT OK for the "Mosque" to be built ?
In my view it is the exact same thing .....no different ....forget about all this Sharia nonsense,Freedom is Freedom!
This also goes back to when Bush declared war in Iraq and it has been proven that it was a war based on lies . Those of us who spoke out about it and voiced our displeasure were treated like lepers and called traitors ! Yet these same people who were calling us traitors are now the ones speaking out against the President and it is OK ! ....Well of coarse it is OK ,but it was OK for us ,also !

In my view it is the exact same thing .....no different ....forget about all this Sharia nonsense,Freedom is Freedom!
This also goes back to when Bush declared war in Iraq and it has been proven that it was a war based on lies . Those of us who spoke out about it and voiced our displeasure were treated like lepers and called traitors ! Yet these same people who were calling us traitors are now the ones speaking out against the President and it is OK ! ....Well of coarse it is OK ,but it was OK for us ,also !

The Hate
Well it happened.A cabbie was stabbed because he was Muslum. I am surprised it took this long .Ever since the whole, kick it up a notch ,fear mongering ,put on by the both the right and left ,this incident was bound to happen . For some reason it is cool to hate muslims .....this week .....Next week it will be cool to hate someone else .
When did it become socially acceptable to hate anyone.A couple of months ago Jews were on the radar.This weekend Glenn Beck is having his rally in Washington ..I can only imagine the hate that will be at that place.
This is a people issue.If we laugh at an off color joke ,at a "funny" one liner' at a friend voicing their hatred in private ......we are just as guilty.
I am personaly not against the "Mosque"...just as I am not against Beck having his rally ...in both cases it is their right .That is what this country is suppose to be about !
What it isn't suppose to be about is the blind hatred ..on both sides ....against something you may not believe in .I am tired of waiting for our supposed leaders ..again on both sides... to do the right thing .......This is where I will say it is time to take back OUR country, and it should be up to all of us to do the right thing and STOP THE HATRED !
We can do this and let's start today !
